CCTV Surveying

Drainage CCTV surveys are used to inspect the condition of drainage systems using a camera system. This type of survey is commonly employed to identify issues such as blockages, structural damage, or leaks within pipes.

Our fleet is equipped with the latest CCTV surveying equipment.

Our push rod units are flexible cameras that can be portable from the vehicles, making it easier for places with access issues. These units are capable of CCTV surveying Domestic and Commercial pipes. The push unit can CCTV survey pipes from 75mm up to 225mm in diameter.

Our crawler camera units are motorized, this allows the camera to traverse longer distances in larger pipes providing a stable and detail view. The crawler units can CCTV survey pipes from 100mm to 1500mm in diameter.

We also use Sonar Equipment Sonar scanners in situations where visibility is poor via CCTV surveying, Sonar technology can assess the depth and condition of pipes. Sonar equipment can also be used for Leak detection, Profile mapping and much more.

How It Works:

A small, waterproof camera is inserted into the drainage system through access points such as manholes or inspection chambers. The camera transmits live video footage to a monitor, allowing technicians to observe the interior of the pipes in real-time. The footage can be recorded for further analysis and documentation. After the survey, the CCTV files are run through a ‘wincan report’ system.

The scoring summaries are based on the SRM grading from the WRC.
The WRC (Water Research Centre) grading system is often used to assess the condition of drainage systems, particularly in the context of CCTV surveys. The grading typically categorizes the condition of pipes into different classes based on the severity of any defects observed during the survey.

WRc Grading System:

  1. Grade 1: No significant defects – the pipe is in good condition.
  2. Grade 2: Minor defects – some issues present, but not significant enough to require immediate action.
  3. Grade 3: Moderate defects – noticeable issues that should be monitored or addressed soon.
  4. Grade 4: Major defects – serious problems that require urgent attention or repair.
  5. Grade 5: Severe defects – a critical condition that poses a risk of failure and needs immediate action

This grading helps in prioritizing repairs and maintenance actions based on the severity of the issues identified during the CCTV survey

Benefits of CCTV surveying:

  • Non-Invasive: It allows for inspection without the need for digging or major disruption.
  • Accurate Diagnosis: Provides a clear view of the condition of the pipes, leading to more accurate assessments.
  •  Cost-Effective: Early detection of issues can prevent costly repairs down the line.
  •  Comprehensive Reports: The survey will include a detailed report and recommendations based on the findings
